Beauty Sleep

- First Three Hours - You get the deepest sleep of the night. Your body produces the most human growth hormone, which is crucial to skin and hair repair, during this time
- Middle Two Hours - Deep sleep shortens and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep begins. Melatonin, a hormone that's also a skin-protecting antioxidant, increases.
- Last Three Hours - This is when you get the most REM sleep. Your skin's temperature reaches its lowest point and your muscles relax, giving skin its deepest recovery.

Facials
Let’s face it, most brides would do just about anything for glowing skin on their wedding day (myself included!). Getting a facial is a good way to relieve stress and detoxify the skin. But before you book your last minute facial appointment here are a few things to consider. Facial scrubs, masks and expensive moisturizers can only do so much. On the other hand, a good facial will help to rejuvenate the skin through skin analysis, steam cleaning, extractions, mild exfoliation, a mask, toner and moisturizer targeted for your skin type.
If you’re a newcomer to the world of facials, it’s good to try one out several months before your wedding day. This will give you ample time to see how well your skin reacts to a facial. It also helps to get monthly facials about three to four months before your special day to prepare your skin. Make sure you leave some time between having your facial and your wedding day, no closer than one week prior is usually recommended.
Light chemical peels, laser treatments or micro-dermabrasion are another consideration. However, these more abrasive treatments should be left till after your wedding if your skin is unfamiliar or sensitive to such harsh treatments.
And while we’re on the subject, why not consider having a back facial, too. This is a wonderful idea especially if you’re wearing a wedding gown that exposes your back!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
Some traditions are rooted in superstition and closely connected with good and bad luck. The most familiar of wedding-related sayings dates back to Victorian times and goes like this, "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.”
“Something Old" represents the connection the bride will maintain to her family heritage. Many brides will wear an heirloom piece of family jewelry or the wedding gown belonging to a relative. An ideal token for this category would be an item that has been passed down through the generations, or something she has inherited directly.
"Something New" connotes hope and success in the bride's new life. It's generally quite easy to find something to fit this category. Your wedding dress, a new pair of shoes, your hair accessories, or a new piece of jewelry from your husband to be can all fall into this category.
"Something Borrowed" serves to remind the bride that friends and family will be there for her whenever she may need their support or assistance. Great emphasis is placed on borrowing from a happily married woman, as the good fortune is said to pass on to the new bride in her own marriage. Frequently, brides choose to borrow a piece of jewelry, a handkerchief, your grandmother's diamond earrings, or your sister's wedding shoes. Anything may be borrowed, just don't forget to return it afterwards!
"Something Blue" represents faithfulness, purity and loyalty. The symbolism dates back to biblical times when blue represented virginity and fidelity. Brides often choose to wear a blue garter, sapphire jewelry or blue ribbons in their hair.
It is said that if a bride follows these traditions, the couple will lead a long lasting and happy marriage!

Sentimental Guest Book

Back in the day, the wedding guest book was a necessity. Everyone who attended a wedding was considered a witness and was required to sign the marriage document, or guest book. Today, even though the legal requirements have changed, the concept of a guest book remains as a wonderful sentiment for the wedding couple. Whether it be for your wedding, engagement party, or bridal shower, creating a unique guest book is a special way for guests to share their feelings and encouragement with the couple.
Recently, I had been asked to help create a special Engagement Party guest book for a wonderful couple who is very dear to my families heart. Here is how I helped create something that I hope they will cherish forever:
Materials: beautifully bound 50 page leather book from Italy, 38 pictures, 12 Beatles song lyric quotes, some thick brown cardstock and some good picture glue.
The process is simple, after a little organizing and some gluing and cutting, my dear friends had a unique, one of a kind guest book that is full of loving sentiments and pictures chronicling their relationship. (Tip: put the invitation to the event on the front page of the book, that way the couple can remember which event the book relates to.) The most beautiful part was the fact that everyone got to share in progress of their relationship through the pictures. It is very nostalgic sentiment and really unites everyone around the couple.
There is nothing more beautiful than helping a couple celebrate their love!

Eyeglasses on your Wedding Day

Which is more important, appearance or comfort? When it comes to those who could use some help in the vision department, this is a tough choice to make. Here’s my take.
Are contacts even an option for you? If not then your problem is solved. You are a glasses-wearer through and through and it should be no different on your wedding day!
If glasses will be incorporated into your wedding accessories, get an anti-reflective coating. This will keep the reflection from the flash off your glasses in your wedding pictures but still allow you to see where the photographer is and land your first kiss appropriately!
Tell your makeup artist you’re wearing your glasses and make sure that your makeup is designed with your glasses in mind, so it flatters you as much as possible. The makeup you wear should put more emphasis on your eyes, not less, as many people might think. People are looking at you on your wedding day, not your glasses!
Above all, make sure you look like yourself! If you try out contacts prior to your wedding, start incorporating them into your look. If you like them and are comfortable, contacts might be the way to go. But, don't only wear your contacts on your wedding day. Your husband-to-be fell in love with you, glasses and all, and he wants to see YOU on your wedding day, not some weird version of you. Be true to yourself and be authentic!
